Birmingham: The old
spark of enmity between England and Australia is set to re-ignite, but the
two-and-a-half-century Ashes series will start on Thursday for both teams. The
England team, who recently won the World Cup for the first time in history, are
eager to make the home season memorable for the Ashes Trophy. The team will
rely on veteran pace duo James Anderson and Stuart Broad, while all-rounders
Chris Woakes and Ben Stokes will be there for Sam Bowling support. England's Top 7 is already stable, with a
change of Root from the fourth-to-third
position while the Denley will now bat at fourth. On the other hand, The Australian team is confident of winning the Ashes series on English soil for
the first time in 19 years, although captain Tim Pan has said that he will
appear on the final XI toss, though there are likely three players involved in
last year's ball-tampering scandal. Smith, David Warner, and Cameron Bancroft
will take the field. He will also face the spectacle of spectators, as well as
coach Justin Langer confirmed to play Usman Khawaja and James Patterson. Edgbaston
has been England's strongest stronghold for some time, with Kangaroos not
winning any matches in any format since 2001, including the recent World Cup
semi-final, on the other hand, England on their way to Birmingham. Has won all
11 matches.
